Position Summary

The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day financial operations of Charleys and its family of brands by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and assisting with month-end close processes.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment. This position offers exposure to multiple areas of accounting and provides an excellent foundation for long-term growth within the organization.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly Profit & Loss statements for management review.
  • Conduct sales audits for company-owned restaurant locations and investigate variances.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Review vendor invoices and expense reports to ensure accuracy and proper coding.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of payments.
  • Report monthly sales to landlords and calculate percentage rent where applicable.
  • Analyze food, paper, and labor costs to identify trends or anomalies.
  • Assist with monthly sales tax calculations and filings.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
  • Participate in special projects, process improvements, and other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in multi-unit restaurant or retail environments.
  • Familiarity with Concur Expense Reporting systems.
  • Prior exposure to financial audits or multi-entity accounting structures.
