General Summary
The Vice President of Information Technology is a strategic and operational leader responsible for driving the vision, strategy, and execution of enterprise-wide technology solutions. This role oversees platforms that power the business across financial management, human capital management, supply chain, franchise operations, and data systems, while also leading “Office of the CIO” functions such as governance, project delivery, and IT financial management.
The VP of IT serves as both architect and operator, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and scalable, while championing digital innovation that advances the company’s long-term growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enterprise Systems Leadership
- Lead delivery, integration, and lifecycle management of enterprise systems including ERP, HCM, supply chain, franchise, and data platforms.
- Act as strategic product owner and technology thought leader, advancing cloud-first, scalable architectures that serve enterprise and business-unit needs.
- Build structured migration roadmaps with predictable release cycles, balancing stability and innovation.
- Partner with senior executives to translate business needs into technology solutions that improve processes and unlock new capabilities.
- Cultivate strong vendor partnerships to maximize system performance, drive innovation, and optimize cost efficiency.
- Ensure data systems produce accurate, actionable insights that enable advanced analytics, business intelligence, and emerging AI applications.
- Oversee restaurant-level technology ecosystems (POS, kiosks, mobile, loyalty, delivery, drive-thru) to guarantee uptime, usability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, and Finance to optimize guest-facing platforms (web, app, payments, loyalty).
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives tailored to QSR, ensuring PCI compliance, fraud prevention, and secure digital transactions.
Technology Delivery & Governance
- Establish disciplined release management practices to deliver predictable, transparent, and business-aligned technology rollouts.
- Maintain enterprise release calendars, capacity models, and project governance frameworks.
- Provide regular performance reporting, including benefit realization and departmental health, to executive leadership.
- Lead IT project managers and analysts, ensuring cross-functional alignment and accountability.
- Uphold technology standards, security protocols, disaster recovery readiness, and regulatory compliance (SOX, PCI, FTC).
- Champion technology adoption across the franchise system, driving consistent implementation and utilization of core platforms.
- Define KPIs and dashboards for restaurant and enterprise-level performance monitoring, tying IT outcomes directly to business results.
Financial & Administrative Leadership
- Direct IT budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning in partnership with Finance and Procurement.
- Manage technology investments and vendor contracts with a focus on lifecycle value and ROI.
- Oversee purchasing, invoice processing, and financial health reporting for the IT function.
- Build frameworks for capacity planning and resource optimization.
- Develop long-term capital and operating investment strategies for both corporate and franchise technology.
Team & Culture Leadership
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing IT organization with clear accountability, succession planning, and development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor IT leaders and teams to stay ahead of emerging technologies and evolving business priorities.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Deep expertise in ERP and HCM systems, including large-scale migrations and integrations.
- Strong background in cloud architectures, data integration, BI/analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Proven success implementing IT delivery frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex vendor ecosystems and high-value contracts.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of scaling IT organizations.
- Executive communication and presentation skills with credibility at the C-suite level.
- Financial acumen in IT budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.
- Experience leading compliance and audit initiatives (SOX, PCI, FTC).
- Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity practices for high-volume QSR or retail environments.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or executive role.
- Proven success leading IT in multi-unit QSR, retail, or franchise-based organizations of 500+ locations.
- Direct experience managing enterprise systems and IT financial operations at scale.
- Background in hospitality, retail, or multi-unit consumer businesses strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field required; MBA preferred.
